Kiowa National Grassland dominates this high plains landscape on the border of Colfax and Harding counties. The area is characterized by a network of drainage features that cut through the undulating terrain, including Alex Draw and Hubsch Draw in the north and Spear Draw further south. These intermittent watercourses provide the primary relief in an otherwise expansive grassland environment.
