The Sprague River meanders through the heart of this Klamath County landscape, defining the character of the settlement at the Sprague River townsite. This high-country valley is punctuated by several prominent landforms, including Magpie Butte, Eagle Butte, and Watchdog Butte, which stand as sentinels over the river's winding path. In the eastern portion of the survey, the Sprague River Post Office serves as a central hub for the small community near the intersection of County Hwy-589 and Main Ave.
