Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument spans the boundary between Chouteau and Fergus Counties, where the landscape is defined by the deep incision of Arrow Creek and its complex network of drainage systems. The terrain transitions from high, flat expanses like Everson Bench and Arrow Creek Bench into a labyrinth of coulees, including Spring Coulee, Mutton Coulee, and Buffalo Coulee. This 2024 survey captures the sparse ranching and agricultural infrastructure that has long characterized this part of Montana, evidenced by remote gravel routes such as Everson Rd and Linse Ln.
