The Winchester Mountains dominate the southwestern quadrant of this landscape, rising to the summit of Square Mountain. This high ground is deeply dissected by drainage systems including Long Canyon, Severin Canyon, and Pine Canyon. A high-altitude water source, Pine Tank, is situated on the eastern slopes of the range, providing a rare point of collected water in this arid environment.
