Stanley Lake and the northern reaches of the Sawtooth Range dominate this high-elevation landscape, where the borders of the Challis National Forest, Boise National Forest, and Sawtooth National Forest converge. The topography is defined by sharp vertical relief, reaching its height at Thompson Peak and Mt Regan, which tower over numerous glacial tarns including Sawtooth Lake and the Trailer Lakes.
