Staplehurst and the surrounding Seward County farmland are defined by the convergence of several major waterways, including the Big Blue River, Lincoln Cr, and Cottonwood Cr. This agricultural landscape is dotted with several small reservoirs, such as Dobesh-Swanson Reservoir, Herpolsheimer Reservoir, and Richters Reservoir, which manage the local drainage across the townships of T11N and T12N.
