Irish Settlement and the small community of Stark anchor this landscape within the Adirondack Park, where the hydrology of the North Country is prominently on display. The northern flow of the Raquette River is transformed by several impoundments, including the Blake Falls Reservoir, Stark Falls Reservoir, and the northern reach of Carry Falls Reservoir. These engineered water bodies contrast with the wilder, meandering paths of the North Branch Grass River and South Branch Grass River to the south and west.
