About this map

Allen Flat serves as a broad topographical transition between the rising slopes of the Winchester Mountains to the north and the jagged Steele Hills to the east. This Cochise County landscape is primarily defined by its drainage systems and ranching infrastructure, as seen in the long path of Tres Alamos Wash which cuts through the center of the sheet. The arid nature of the terrain is highlighted by the presence of vital water catchments like Big Tank and Antelope Tank. Small-scale industrial and agricultural markers are scattered across the valley, including several locations marked Drill Hole, isolated Corral sites, and a remote Landing Strip. To the southwest, the topography steepens again at the edge of the Little Dragoon Mountains, illustrating the complex basin and range geology of the region during the late twentieth century.
