The high ridgelines of the Snowcrest Range dominate this part of the Beaverhead National Forest, where the boundary between Madison and Beaverhead counties follows the crest of the divide. This 2024 survey documents a landscape defined by its watersheds and drainage basins, including the high-altitude Peterson Basin and Pole Creek Basin. Peaks like Stonehouse Mtn and Mt Carey provide the anchors for a complex network of creeks, such as Beaver Creek and Jones Creek, that flow through the timbered slopes.
