Lewis & Clark National Forest encompasses the vast majority of this high-altitude landscape in Meagher County, defined by a complex drainage system and several prominent peaks. The topography is dominated by the elevations of Strawberry Butte, Black Butte, and Iron Butte, which rise above a network of seasonal and perennial waterways. This region illustrates the remote character of Montana's protected wilderness, where access is primarily limited to forest routes such as Sheep Creek Rd and Butte Creek Rd.
