Lewis & Clark National Forest encompasses much of this high-elevation landscape, where the headwaters of numerous creeks converge. The terrain is defined by prominent peaks including Strawberry Butte, Black Butte, and Iron Butte, which serve as natural landmarks within the mountainous sections of Meagher County. High-altitude meadows and gaps such as Allan Park and Moose Pass highlight the area's geography, providing critical passage through the timbered heights. Drainage patterns are complex here, with Sheep Cr and various branches of Calf Creek including the Middle Fork and West Fork carving through the slopes. A sparse network of forest roads, such as Sheep Creek Rd and Butte Creek Rd, provides the only modern access to these remote reaches, reflecting a landscape where the environment remains largely dictated by the natural contours of the Little Belt Mountains.
