Sunshine Valley and the village of Cerro anchor this High Desert landscape, where the dramatic Cañon del Rio Grande carves a deep path through the plateau. This 2020 survey documents the intersection of modern recreation and historic agricultural infrastructure, including the Number One Ditch and Number Two Ditch which draw from Latir Cr. These irrigation systems speak to the long-standing efforts to cultivate this arid terrain near the base of Guadalupe Mtn.
