Swallows and the suburban expanse of Pueblo West sit at a geographic crossroads where the Arkansas River meets the expansive Pueblo Reservoir. This landscape is defined by its complex water management and residential development, shown here in the 2010s. The northern reaches of the reservoir dominate the southern half of the map, fed by the Turkey Creek and Peck Creek drainages. In the western portion, the historic Swallows Cemetery remains as a local landmark near the river, while the Minnequa Canal traces the contours of the terrain to the south.
