The Snowcrest Range defines the high-altitude topography of this Montana landscape along the border of Beaverhead and Madison counties. Water resources are central to the geography of this high country, which includes the headwaters of Swamp Creek and the meandering path of the East Fork Blacktail Deer Creek. The area is characterized by a network of drainage features such as Spring Brook, Robb Creek, and Rock Creek, which flow through the high basins and canyons that mark this section of the Beaverhead National Forest.
