Arkansas River navigation and industrial growth define this corridor south of North Little Rock and Little Rock. The landscape is shaped by the river's winding path through Peach Orchard Bend and past Gates Island, while the Union Pacific railroad lines and Adams Field Airport facilitate heavy transport through Picron. To the south, a series of smaller communities including College Station, Sweet Home, and Wrightsville sit on the edge of the wetlands and oxbows.
