Sycan Marsh dominates the eastern expanse of this landscape, creating a complex wetland environment where the Sycan River meanders through the high desert of Lake County. The western portion of the terrain rises into the timbered slopes of the Fremont National Forest, providing a sharp contrast between the marshy flats and the upland drainage systems. This 2024 survey captures the hydrological network that feeds the basin, including the seasonal flows of Coyote Creek, Long Creek, and Dry Creek.
