Arctic National Wildlife Refuge encompasses the majority of this Alaskan wilderness landscape, where drainage patterns define the high-altitude terrain. The southeastern portion of the map is further protected within the Mollie Beattie Wilderness, a designation named for the first woman to lead the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The topography is dominated by the headwaters of Mancha Creek in the southwest and Boulevard Creek in the southeast, both flowing through deep glacial valleys. This 2023 survey illustrates a landscape almost entirely devoid of human infrastructure, focusing instead on the complex hydrography and elevation contours that characterize the North Slope Borough interior. The map provides a precise record of the natural boundaries and watercourses within one of the most protected environments in North America.
