Deerlodge National Forest encompasses the high country of the Elkhorn Mountains, where seasonal drainages like Watertank Gulch and Greens Gulch carve through the steep northern terrain. Near the center of these uplands, Tacoma Park serves as a distinct landmark alongside Tacoma Spring. The landscape transitions from these forested peaks into the broad Boulder Valley to the south, where the Boulder River meanders through more level ground.
