Tan Oak Park and the high ridges of northern Mendocino County are defined by a complex network of canyons and peaks within the Eel River watershed. The landscape is dominated by the course of Rattlesnake Cr, which winds past Tan Oak Park and under the high point of Rattlesnake Summit. Significant local relief is marked by landmarks such as Cow Mtn, Bald Mtn, and Chimney Rock.
