Targhee Pass marks a critical crossing of the Continental Divide at the high-altitude junction of Idaho and Montana. The landscape is defined by the contrast between the high summits of the Henrys Lake Mountains, including Lionhead and Bald Peak, and the broad valley floors of Henry's Lake Flat. Human presence is concentrated near the southern edge at the settlement of Island Park and the nearby Henry's Lake Airport.
