Tash Peak and Harrison Peak anchor the southern elevations of this section of the Beaverhead National Forest. This high-altitude landscape is defined by the Big Hole Divide, which separates the drainage systems of the Big Hole and Beaverhead rivers. At Big Hole Pass, the State Hwy 278 traverses the ridgeline, descending past Carroll Hill toward the east. The map reveals a complex network of mountain hydrology, where numerous seasonal and perennial flows like W Fork Pole Cr, Divide Cr, and Wakefield Cr carve through the steep terrain. To the southeast, the geography transitions into the Grasshopper Valley, a notable departure from the rugged canyons such as Harrison Canyon found further west. The presence of Harrison Lake and multiple small drainage forks highlights the critical role of these high-country headwaters in the regional watershed.
