Saint Peter and the Saint Peters Mission Cemetery anchor the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountain Front in this 2011 survey of Cascade County. The landscape is defined by a series of prominent volcanic features and buttes, ranging from the central Birdtail Butte and Haystack Butte to the southern heights of Telegraph Mountain and China Mountain. To the west, the Dear Ranch sits near the headwaters of Birdtail Creek, which winds through the Birdtail Divide toward the northern plains.
