Natural Bridges National Monument borders the southeastern corner of this 1980s landscape, which is defined by a labyrinth of high plateaus and deep drainages in San Juan County. Prominent landforms like Found Mesa, Ram Mesa, and Lone Butte separate the deeply carved path of White Canyon from its many tributaries. The area reflects a history of mineral exploration, evidenced by numerous Prospects, Adits, and a Mine Shaft scattered among the cliffs and canyon floors. Notable landmarks such as Piñon Point and Pushout provide navigational orientation across the high desert terrain. The drainage network includes the winding Cheesebox Canyon, Gravel Canyon, and the secluded Hideout Canyon, illustrating the complex erosion patterns typical of this portion of the Colorado Plateau.
