The Paint Pot stands as a central topographic feature in this high-altitude corner of Idaho, where the landscape is defined by a dense network of gulches, springs, and drainages. The area is marked by a complex system of water sources including White Goat Spring, Bear Wallow Spring, and Johnston Spring, which feed into local drainages like Mosquito Creek and Road Creek. This 2024 survey captures the remote character of the terrain, showing the path of Spar Canyon Rd as it cuts through Spar Canyon in the northwest, providing one of the few established access points into this part of the Challis region.
