Glen Canyon National Recreation Area dominates this section of the Colorado River corridor, showing the deeply carved landscape of southern Utah. The map traces the winding inlets of Lake Powell, particularly where the waters meet the mouths of Navajo Cr and pass beneath the heights of Miners Stairs. The geological character of the region is defined by the Water Pocket Fold, a massive monocline that influences the drainage patterns of numerous side canyons. These include Cow Canyon, Long Canyon, and Lost Eden Canyon, which cut through the high desert plateaus. Along the eastern edge, the topography rises toward Iron Top Mesa, while the boundary between Kane and San Juan counties follows the submerged centerline of the old Glen Canyon channel.
