Thompson's Harbor State Park dominates this coastal landscape along the shores of Lake Huron, protecting a series of limestone cobble beaches and wetlands. The intricate shoreline is defined by landforms such as Observatory Point and Black Point, which frame the namesake Thompsons Harbor and North Bay. Inland, the geography is heavily influenced by the presence of Grand Lake, which is dotted with numerous landmasses including Indian Island, Allen Island, and Bear Island.
