Ottawa National Forest dominates this coastal landscape along the southern edge of Lake Superior. The terrain is defined by the sharp descent of numerous waterways toward the lake, creating a high concentration of named cascades. The Presque Isle River is the primary drainage, featuring a series of closely grouped falls near its mouth, including Manabezho Falls, Manido Falls, and Nawadaha Falls. To the east, the Porcupine Mountains rise above the drainage basins of the Little Carp River and Pinkerton Cr, where additional drops like Trappers Falls and Explorers Falls are documented.
