Chinle sits at the northeastern corner of this landscape, marking the entry to a region defined by high mesas and intermittent watercourses. The desert terrain is punctuated by significant geological landmarks such as Ventana Mesa and the striking White Horse Butte. A series of washes, including Balakai Wash and Cottonwood Wash, drain toward the settlement, reflecting the vital hydrology of the Navajo Nation. At the center of the sheet lies Toh De Niihe, an important water feature and local namesake that serves as a focal point for the surrounding topography. Infrastructure is primarily represented by Us-191, which connects the area to the broader region, while Bia-4 and CR-437 provide localized access through the varied elevations of Tse Lichii Dah Azka and the Red Rock Rim.
