Tonica and Lostant anchor this portion of LaSalle County, situated along the north-south corridor of N State Rte 251. The landscape is defined by the agricultural grid typical of central Illinois, where rural roads like Ray Richardson Rd and Peoria and Ottawa Rd connect isolated homesteads to the primary settlements. To the north, the small community of Lowell sits near the banks of Alleman Lake, while Ticona remains a distinct point on the map east of the main highway. Local history is preserved in several burial grounds, including the Old Tonica Cem and Fairview Cem near Tonica, and Saint John's Cem and Hope Town Cem situated around the outskirts of Lostant. Waterways such as Bailey Cr and Little Sandy Cr wind through the township, providing the only natural breaks in the geometric survey lines.
