Old Mission Peninsula divides the waters of Lake Michigan in this 2017 survey, separating the West Arm Grand Traverse Bay from the East Arm Grand Traverse Bay. The southern portion of the peninsula is characterized by elevated terrain such as Carpenter Hill and Lookout Point, with a network of residential roads like Center Rd and Bluff Rd following the shoreline and interior ridges. Small islands, including Marion Island and Bassett Island, sit just offshore in the west arm.
