The Trent River meanders through the heart of this Jones County landscape, defining the character of the coastal plain as it was documented in 2019. The town of Trenton serves as the primary hub, situated near the confluence of the river and Crooked Run. To the southeast, the small settlement of Olivers is surrounded by a dense network of wetlands and waterways, including Mill Run and French Br. The geography is notable for its expansive pocosin and swamp systems, such as the White Oak Pocosin, Island Branch Swamp, and Great Dover Swamp, which dominate the northern and southern reaches of the sheet.
