Kanisku National Forest encompasses the entirety of this high-elevation Idaho landscape, where the Cabinet Mountains define the northern horizon. The area is a complex network of drainages and peaks, centered on the heights of Trestle Peak and the nearby Auxor Basin. Transportation through this steep terrain is limited to primary forest routes following the watercourses, including Lightning Creek Rd and Trestle Creek Rd.
