The Dome Rock Mountains dominate this arid landscape on the border of Yuma and La Paz Counties. This 2018 survey documents a remote corridor of the Sonoran Desert, where the high ridges of the South Trigo Peaks give way to the expansive La Posa Plain. The area is defined by its drainage patterns and mountain crossings, notably Trigo Pass and Felipe Pass, which have historically provided passage through the desert peaks. Modern infrastructure is limited to Cibola Rd and other unimproved desert routes that skirt the ephemeral waters of Trigo Wash and Tyson Wash. This map is an essential reference for understanding the topographic barriers and desert washes that shaped travel in this part of western Arizona.
