Bonilla serves as the primary population center on this landscape of the Missouri Coteau in eastern South Dakota. The town is situated along the eastern edge of the quadrangle, where Main St and US Highway 281 intersect, forming a small hub for the surrounding agricultural community. The terrain is characterized by a high density of prairie potholes and wetlands, typical of the glaciated plains, with notable water bodies including Fox Lake and the winding course of Cain Cr in the southern portion of the sheet. The survey shows a highly structured section-line road network, such as Co Rd 8, 197th St, and 382nd Ave, which defines the land use patterns and rural property boundaries across Beadle County. This grid-like organization highlights the enduring influence of the Public Land Survey System on the development of the Great Plains.
