The Clan Alpine Mountains dominate this high-desert landscape in central Nevada, where the peaks of Tungsten Mtn look out over a complex system of drainage and narrow canyons. Steep corridors like Bernice Canyon and Augusta Canyon trace the movement of seasonal water from the heights down toward the broad expanse of the Edwards Creek Valley to the southeast. Isolated water sources, including Eagle Springs, Bob Spring, and Smooth Canyon Spring, provide the only consistent moisture in this arid environment, historically vital for both local wildlife and early mining or ranching prospects.
