Ashley National Forest dominates this section of the Uinta Mountains, defined by the significant hydraulic infrastructure of the Upper Stillwater Reservoir. This reservoir acts as a central hub for the drainage of high-elevation forks, including the W Fork Rock Creek and S Fork Rock Creek. The geography is shaped by high alpine basins and ridges, most notably the Dry Ridge and the E Slope Burnt Ridge, which create a complex network of canyons and gulches like Miners Gulch.
