Veteado Mountain dominates this portion of the high country in northwestern New Mexico, rising near the boundary between Cibola and Catron Counties. The landscape is defined by a complex network of ephemeral watercourses and canyons, including Horse Camp Canyon, Wyche Canyon, and Pine Canyon. To the south, Techado Mountain provides a secondary topographical anchor.
