Vista and the surrounding rural landscape of St. Clair County are defined by a network of winding waterways and legacy family names. The Sac River meanders through the northwest, while the southeastern corner is carved by Coon Creek and its many tributaries, including West Branch Coon Creek and East Branch Coon Creek. This 2011 survey reveals a landscape deeply connected to its past through numerous burial grounds such as Doyal Cemetery, Roberts Cemetery, and the Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery.
