Vulcans Throne stands as a prominent volcanic landmark overlooking the inner gorge of the Colorado River in this section of Grand Canyon National Park. The landscape is defined by massive structural drops, including the Toroweap Cliffs and the distant Aubrey Cliffs, which delineate the boundaries of the Toroweap Valley and Prospect Valley. Near the river, the map records the intense geography of the Lava Falls Rapids and the Lava Falls, sites created by ancient volcanic activity that once dammed the canyon.
