Gulf Hammock dominates this coastal stretch of Levy County, where a complex network of wetlands and tidal creeks meets the Gulf of Mexico. The landscape is defined by the convergence of the Waccasassa River and its numerous tributaries, including Otter Creek and Cow Creek. These waterways thread through a series of coastal landforms like Staffords Island, Salt Island, and Lone Cedar Island. The 2021 survey shows a shoreline deeply indented by West Pass and East Pass, which provide access to the broader Waccasassa Bay.
