Castaic Lake dominates the lower portion of this mid-century survey, its expansive reach defined by a Spillway Elevation 1515 and situated just north of the Castaic Lagoon. The landscape transitions from the aquatic engineering of the reservoir to the high elevations of Warm Springs Mtn, where the Warm Springs Camp and its associated Swimming Pool provided mountain recreation within the Angeles National Forest.

Industrial and infrastructure patterns are clearly visible through the presence of the Los Angeles Aqueduct and the San Francisquito Powerhouse No 2 located near Drinkwater Res. In the more remote northern canyons, the map records administrative and social sites such as the Elizabeth Lake Guard Station and Canyon Christian Camp. These features, alongside the Warm Springs Truck Trail and various firebreaks, illustrate the management of these peaks and canyons during the post-war era.
