Castle Valley serves as the focal point of this high-elevation landscape, where the flat valley floor meets the dramatic rising slopes of the La Sal Mountains. The terrain transitions from the residential developments along Round Mountain Cir to the high-alpine basins and peaks that define the eastern and southern portions of the sheet. Evidence of the region’s earlier land use is found at Miners Basin and Bachelor Basin, tucked beneath high peaks like Horse Mtn and Gold Knob. These areas, historically significant for their resource extraction, are connected by the winding Mountain Loop Rd. Higher in the Manti-La Sal National Forest, recreational and water resources are centered around Warner Lake and Oowah Lake. The map also preserves local history markers such as the Castleton Cem, providing a look at the settlement patterns that have existed at the base of Fisher Mesa and Adobe Mesa for generations.
