Washington Peak anchors this high-elevation landscape within the White Clouds Wilderness, where the headwaters of several major drainages begin. The terrain is defined by a series of high-altitude basins and alpine lakes, including Fourth of July Lake, Phyllis Lake, and the cluster known as Six Lakes. These water features serve as the origin points for Fourth of July Creek and Washington Creek, which carve deep canyons through the Challis National Forest.
