The eastern edge of Newark Valley meets the rising slopes of the Ruby Mountains in this high-desert Nevada landscape. The terrain is defined by the ephemeral presence of Newark Lake, a basin that reflects the seasonal hydrology of the Great Basin. This area remains largely undeveloped, characterized by wide-open valley floors and the essential water source at Barrel Spring.
