White Horse Pass serves as the primary gateway through the high ridges of the Goshute Mountains in this high-desert portion of Elko County. The landscape is defined by the sharp verticality of Sugar Loaf Peak and the southern descent toward Little White Horse Pass and the Little White Horse Hills. Transportation is concentrated along Alt 93, which skirts the western edge of the mountains, while the eastern slope is carved by the drainage of Ferber Wash. This 2014 survey illustrates the topographic isolation of White Horse Flat, a broad basin floor positioned between the primary mountain range and the Ferber Hills to the east. The absence of settlements emphasizes the area's role as a transit corridor and rangeland, characterized by the remote track of Dead Cedar Rd in the north.
