Citico Creek and its many tributaries, such as Salt Spring Br and North Fork of Citico Trl, define the high-elevation landscape of the Cherokee National Forest along the Tennessee and North Carolina border. This area within the Unicoi Mountains is characterized by its steep ridges and deep gaps, including Farr Gap and Big Stack Gap. Small settlements like Good Fields and Whiteoak Flats sit at the edges of this wilderness, where forest service roads meet an extensive network of hiking paths.
