The high timberlands of the Northern Oregon Coast Range are defined here by a series of prominent peaks and the headwaters of the Klaskanine River system. Wickiup Mtn and its associated Wickiup Ridge dominate the northern terrain, providing the source for numerous drainages including Waterworks Cr and Little Cr. Further south, Elk Mtn stands above the junction of several forest roads. The map reveals an intricate network of logging and resource roads, such as the Big Creek Mainline and the curiously named California Barrel Rd, which wind through the drainage basins of the N Fork Klaskanine River. Small upland water bodies like Wickiup Lake and Middle Lake are perched among the ridges, while various springs like Wickiup Spring indicate the vital hydrology of these high-elevation forests.
