Wilson Mesa dominates the northern reaches of this landscape, situated just south of the sprawling Glen Canyon area. The 1980s terrain is defined by the high-water mark of Lake Powell, which floods the deep canyons of the San Juan River and the Colorado R. In the southern portion of the sheet, the boundary of the Navajo Indian Reservation meets the National Recreation Area, indicating the complex jurisdictional history of this canyon country.
