Town Creek and its meandering tributaries, including Rice Creek and Mallory Creek, define the coastal plain landscape of Brunswick County as it appeared in the late 1980s. This survey records a transition from the dense wetlands of the Green Swamp to the expanding residential and industrial corridors near Leland. Evidence of the region’s transportation history is visible in the Old Railroad Grade and Old RR Gr segments that cut through the terrain.
