About this map

St Froud Lake and the winding Fish River dominate this 1920s survey of Northern Maine’s timberlands and water systems. The Bangor and Aroostook railroad cuts through the landscape, serving the small lakeside settlements of Winterville and Quimby, as well as the remote Winterville Sta. This was an era of active logging and remote outposts, evidenced by several named camps like Fourmile Camp and Falls Camp, along with isolated structures such as the T 15 R 6 Sch and the Hay Shed along the river's Hay Shed Bend.
